Today I'm sharing some fun letter H activities for preschoolers!

It took us virtually two years to put together our giant resource for Letter of the alphabet of the Calendar week. During that time I did a huge variety of activities with my older boys. Now my Half-dozen is in kindergarten and a fluent reader. My Four knows his alphabet and sounds, can read about 25 sight words, and is easily reading three-letter-words.
It's time for their little brother to acquire the alphabet! I'yard using our alphabet resources as a reference for designing weekly activities for my three-year-former. And I'1000 sharing them with you lot so you can see what a typical week looks like.
Nosotros started the week with my free picayune book of songs and rhymes. Letter H has some great nursery rhymes!
He dotted all the H'south in this printable from Learning the Alphabet, our favorite alphabet curriculum from This Reading Mama. Managing that Do-a-dot marker is a great fine motor exercise!
For the first time, I printed and laminated the tracing bill of fare that comes with each lesson of Learning the Alphabet. I got a long shoelace and helped my Three thread it through the holes that I punched. This was definitely something to exercise together, every bit he couldn't have managed information technology alone.
Nosotros'll be trying this again!
He enjoyed doing the fan folding, gluing, and drawing for this heart person (he wanted me to do the nose). I but love how it turned out!
I cut out the shapes, and he decided how they should come together to make this house. Bank check out the residue of our letter H craft ideas for more inspiration.
I pulled some foam hearts out of the cupboard and wrote numbers on them for some heart-themed math. He worked to put all the numbers from 1-10 in lodge as he went up the stairs. This was cracking exercise as he came dorsum downward to get each number!
After he was done, he ascended the stairs, reading each number as he went.
On the backs of the hearts I drew common shapes. Then I put them on the floor, and he stepped on each shape as I called it. For more letter H math ideas, visit this mail service.
This calendar week he used power magnets to exercise our free letter H dot folio.
I put grain in a tray and encouraged him to write the letter H with his finger, but he wouldn't do information technology.
Since he wasn't fix for that, I took a stride back. I wrote a letter H on newspaper and got out some arts and crafts sticks. Together we put the sticks on the lines to make the letter H.
He resisted at get-go, only with my help he figured it out.
Now you can see why we're not tackling handwriting pages withal! Some 3-year-olds might be fix for that, but there is no need to rush it.
I only love using my free alphabet moving picture cards! I pulled out the pictures for B and H and helped him sort by beginning sound. He's really starting to get the hang of this! When doing this actiivty I always accept the picture and isolate the beginning sound.
"Bananas! /b/, /b/, bananas!" (* When I put the letter in brackets, that's to show that I'one thousand proverb the letter's sound, not its name.)
Then nosotros await to encounter where the flick goes. Does it make the /b/ sound like B, or the /h/ audio like H?
Sensory play was simple! We just put some colored rice into a box with a heart-shaped container and some measuring spoons I bought in the Target dollar bins. Learn how to make a colored rice sensory bin here.
These were some of our very favorite books for letter H. For many more than favorites, be sure to visit our letter H book listing.
We always like to bring our learning back to the whole alphabet. This week I printed some alphabet cards and spread them out on the couch. Then I fabricated a cereal box into a monster with an open up oral cavity. I told him what the monster was hungry for, and he fed it the correct flash card.
"The monster wants a letter that says /b/, /b,/ /b/!" Or "The monster needs a letter of the alphabet B! Or "The monster wants the card that says /v/, /v/, volcano!"
